PM Modi inaugurates Kochi Metro

IndiaNewsonWeb: 17 Jun, 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached INS Garun Naval Air Station in Kochi and inaugurated Kochi Metro. After this, PM Modi is now traveling in Kochi Metro. He is accompanied by Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu, Kerala Governor P. Sathasivam and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Along with this, commercial operations of Kerala's prestigious Kochi Metro started. Claiming that the country's first integrated multi-model transport system, this metro is expected to improve regional connectivity and reduce the traffic congestion in Kochi. It is known that Kochi is the commercial center of Kerala. The first phase is 13 kilometers long between Aluva and Palarivattom. Kochi Metro will be inaugurated at 11 hrs at Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to reach at 10:30 in the morning, who will travel from Palarivattom to Paddipalam in the Kochi Metro train. After the inauguration of Kochi Metro, there will be a public meeting of the Prime Minister.

Officials said that before going to the stadium for the inauguration, he will return to Palarivastom with the same train. During the inauguration, Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, Kerala Governor P. Sadasivam, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly Ramesh Chennithala, Ernakulam MP KV Thomas and Metro Man E. Sreedharan will share the stage with the Prime Minister.

Officials of Kochi Metro told that the improvement in the regional connectivity in Kochi from world class metro system in Kochi would improve the quality of life and reduce the time spent in crowding, traffic disorder, time to travel, air and noise pollution will come.

In addition, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the National PN Panikar Memorial Reading Day celebration in a program organized at St. Teresa College, Kochi. The Panikar Foundation said that the reading day celebrations that are going on in the state for the month are being expanded to make it national.

The ceremony will be held from June 19 to July 18. According to the foundation, Modi's arrival to Kerala for the inauguration of Kochi Metro will be inaugurated at 12.25 pm
