Linking PAN and Aadhaar

The government has made the last date for linking the Aadhaar with PAN to December 31. It was earlier scheduled on August 31. It can also be added via SMS. For this, leaving the vacant space after UIDPAN from your phone in large numbers and sending your PAN number and then sending an SMS to 567678 or 56161.

It is also important to add Aadhaar to a Bank Account:

The government has now made it mandatory for all financial institutions including banks to verify the Aadhaar of their account holders and link them with their bank accounts. According to the notification issued on June 1, 2017, the last date for doing so has been fixed December 31, 2017. Apart from this, accounts which are not linked to the Aadhaar can be deactivated until this Aadhaar is updated. To follow this directive, the banks are now asking their customers (account holders) to link their Aadhaar card to the bank accounts.

To Mobile Number

As per the Supreme Court order, it is now necessary to link all the mobile numbers with the Aadhaar. This is being done so that criminals, frauds and terrorists cannot use the SIM incorrectly. After February 2018, all the numbers that will not be linked to the Aadhaar will be closed.

For Government Schemes

In order to avail the benefits of government schemes, the need for linking the Aadhaar will be extended upto 31st March. On Wednesday, the central government told the Supreme Court that the report of the committee suggesting the data protection bill will take some time to come, hence the time limit for the mandatory requirement of the Aadhaar will be increased from 31st December to 31st March. Attorney General K.K. Venugopal, appearing for the government, also said that there would be no penal action due to lack of Aadhaar.

For Early Settlement of PF Claims

The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has not made it mandatory to link the Aadhaar to a PF account, but by linking, apply online for claims. Due to this, the settlement takes place within five days, which takes one month to connect without Aadhaar.

Mutual Fund Investment

For all financial institutions, including mutual fund houses, it has made it mandatory for the customer to link the Aadhaar number with the account. The last date for this linking is currently December 31, 2017. After this, investors will not be able to make new investments.

The Advantage of PDS

Public distribution benefits have now been linked to the Aadhaar. Now, to get PDS subsidy benefits, individuals will need to add the Aadhaar to the ration card. Not only this, it has been made mandatory for almost all welfare schemes of the Central Government.

Pension Account

In January this year, the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has mandated their pensioners to deposit their deposits. After getting the Aadhaar, pensioners will get the benefit of social security scheme.

Death Certificate

After one October, to get the death certificate of someone, it is essential to give the Aadhaar number of the deceased. That is, the family will receive any compensation or payment only if the deceased's Aadhaar number is there. For this, the Central Government has issued the necessary notification. The DG Registrar has justified the linking of the case with the basis of the objection arising out of death certificate.

For Driving License and Registration of New Vehicle

The government is planning to link driving license and registration of new vehicle to Aadhaar number. This step is being taken for the prevention of fake licenses and registration of stolen vehicles.
