Former Chief Justice of India PN Bhagwati Who Introduce PIL in India Passed Away

IndiaNewsonWeb: 16 Jun, 2017, Justice PN Bhagwati, former Chief Justice of India and giving PIL power to the nation, died after a prolonged illness. He was 95 years old.

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, P.N. Bhagwati passed away on Thursday. He was 95 years old.

He was the 17th Chief Justice of the country. Served as Chief Justice from July 1985 to December 1986

Before becoming Supreme Chief Justice of the Supreme Court P N Bhagwati was also the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court.

PIL i.e., the public interest litigation was highly publicized for inclusion in the Indian judicial system.

On the PIL, he had ordered that any person can come to the court on the issue of fundamental rights.

In 1986, PIL was introduced with the intention of protecting the interests of the backward, non-feature-conscious people of the society.

In the Emergency declared during the reign of Indira Gandhi, there was also a debate about the controversial decision.

Justice Bhagwati, the country's famous economist Jagdish Bhagwati and Neurosurgeon S. N. Bhagwati's brother was there.

Justice Bhagwati has left behind his wife and 3 daughters. His funeral will be on June 17.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the death of Bhagwati. Said that they were great names of legal fraternity.
